What is Plein Air?
Plein Air (French for "open air") refers to the practice of painting outdoors, directly from observation of nature and the environment. This approach allows artists to capture natural light, color, and atmosphere in real-time, offering a more authentic representation of landscapes and outdoor scenes compared to studio work.
What will PleinAir Sketchers platform offer?
PleinAir Sketchers will be a community-building social app designed for travel, plein air, and urban sketchers. You'll be able to upload your artwork, tag specific GPS locations, and discover other artists' works worldwide through an interactive map interface.
When will the platform launch?
We're currently in active development and working hard to bring PleinAir Sketchers to life. Sign up for our notifications to be the first to know when we launch!
How will I discover artwork on the platform?
PleinAir Sketchers will offer multiple map views: a global map for exploring worldwide artwork, location-based browsing, artist-specific maps, and comprehensive views of all artwork. You'll also be able to use filters to find art by artist, date, or popularity.
Are there any costs involved?
None. PleinAir Sketchers will be completely free to use. We believe in fostering a supportive community of outdoor artists and won't charge any fees for our core platform features.
Will my artwork be used for AI training?
No. We're committed to protecting artists' rights and intellectual property. Images uploaded to PleinAir Sketchers will never be used to train AI models without explicit consent. We have strict policies against unauthorized use of our community's artwork for machine learning or AI development purposes.
